Refurbished Wheelwash for Grantham Quarry

Expanding aggregate producer, Geo Quarries took delivery of a refurbished Rhino Compact from Wheelwash at their newest quarry in Grantham last month. Project Manager, Trevor Gaughan visited Wheelwash’s exhibition stand at RWM 2016, seeking technical advice regarding the performance of a dry ramp system he was considering for his limestone quarry. UK Sales Manager, Alison Galley explained there were more effective options for use in his application, all available from the broad Wheelwash product range. To learn more, Trevor visited an existing Wheelwash installation to see a recommended spray wash system in operation at a quarry with similar site material. Following this, he observed the fabrication process during a visit at Wheelwash’s manufacturing facility in Crewe. The combination of the site visits and the expert advice from Wheelwash convinced Trevor to choose a refurbished spray wash system. Wheelwash supplied a Rhino Compact from their hire fleet after completing a thorough refurbishment of the steel work including a new paint job in colours to match the new weighbridge installed on site. The system was also supplied with a new control panel, pumps, sensor and bridging ramp with barrier for a smooth transition from wash to the weighbridge. The wheel wash was required to comply with planning consent on the 35 acre site, where primary aggregates such as MOT Type 1 sub base, pipe bedding, crusher run and 6F2 / 6F5 materials are produced. In light of the extensive development projects taking place in the Grantham area, the quarry is expected to be particularly busy, supplying construction products locally. Geo Quarries have indicated that after having recently conducted extensive research into equipment suppliers for their latest quarry, this will act as a template for future operations.
