A smart new trailer for a ‘Smart’ company

12-08-2012

Bristol-based Paul Smart Transport has just taken delivery of a new Weightlifter/PPG 72 cu yd tipping semi-trailer for the bulk transport of animal feeds and other high volume agricultural materials. Well known in the local area and beyond as an aggregate and asphalt haulier, the move into this sector marks a new venture for Paul Smart. The company’s immaculate vehicles, each with its driver’s name emblazoned on the cab alongside the company’s name are a familiar sight in and around the Bristol area and as far afield as Cornwall, Oxford, London and Birmingham. Coupled to one of Paul Smart’s five Volvo tractor units, the new bulker will be used for collections and deliveries all over the country. With their smooth finish the newcomer’s plank sides make the trailer simpler to keep clean, easier to sign write and also improve fuel economy compared to an equivalent pressed monocoque body. Meanwhile the well-proven Weightlifter high tensile steel chassis offers a weight saving over one made with standard grade steel without compromising durability, strength or stability. The trailer features a one piece, top hinged tailgate, safety catwalk and ladder on the headboard. Completing the new trailer’s comprehensive spec are: Daimler Chrysler axles, Alcoa Durabrite alloy wheels, Edbro ram, PM Onboard load cells and Dawbarn Wraptor sheet.
