Following the company’s move to broaden services to the horticultural industry in 2012, Bacton Transport has revealed its trolley distribution business is going from strength to strength, with 30% uplift in volumes. “We have had a tremendous response to our new services” said Stewart Galloway, General Manager. “The industry has seen some significant changes in the last few years. Growers and garden centres now operate on quite different buying cycles which have impacted the supply chain and shifted the economics of trolley distribution at the same time.” Galloway continued “Our customer base is growing all the time and it’s exciting to see how different companies now approach the business of trolley distribution with a much more open mind to new ways of delivering their product. It’s a highly specialised service we offer, and we have taken our knowledge and experience of handling plants and packaged it in a way that offers some great benefits to growers and their customers at the same time.” As well as collection and delivery of trolleys, the services on offer now include garden centre consolidation, nurserygate collection and trolley management. The company has also confirmed plans to expand services to other regions of the UK.
