The Woodside Group Proudly Sponsor Linn Primary, Regional Champions in their Formula 1 School Technology Challenge

Congratulations to Hannah Reid and her winning team ‘ALPHA F1’ from Linn Primary school Larne for taking first place in Regional Final, F1 School Technology Challenge. Hannah is the daughter of Alison Reid, Woodside Account’s Department Employee. The F1 Challenge creates a unique way to engage students in STEM subjects. The project involved the primary school students designing a model of a Formula 1 car and racing it against 23 other teams from across Northern Ireland. They also had to present a portfolio of their work along with a stand to display their car showing their work in progress. They raced their car last week in the Ballymena North Business Centre and we are delighted to say that Linn Primary School won the overall competition and will be making their way to Birmingham in March to take part in the National Finals. They were also asked questions by the examiners regarding the project and the portfolio that they displayed took first prize. Tim Woodside, Managing Director for the Woodside Group stated, ‘We are so proud to sponsor Linn Primary this year in their Formula 1 School Challenge and even more elated to watch as the school proceeded to take the Regional Champion Position with a top design and manufacture of the winning car. Well done to the staff and children at the school and all of those who were involved’ Watch this space as the winning team will now be going to England to represent Northern Ireland at the F1 in Primary Schools National Final, the highest level for Primary Schools. The National Final is being held in the NEC, Birmingham on the 11th March and will be broadcast live on YouTube.
