Stanway Storage looks at the New Transit Van Connect

21-10-2016

Stanway Storage Solutions have already fitted out its first Transit Van Connect for a customer in the Midlands – the job included ply wood lining, a specialist roof rack, tool box and tow bar. So we decided to take a closer look at the van – Petrol or diesel the new Transit Connect looks as stylish as it is practical. This new Ford offering has a choice of three power outputs all based on a 1.6-litre engine A choose between 74bhp, 94bhp or 114bhp outputs give a surprisingly smooth, refined and quiet drive. Pokey in the engine sence, the steering also feels more assured with the heavier diesel, which makes it better suited to higher speeds. Ford has fitted this van with its 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine – which is incredibly light and small while being highly efficient at the same time. It’s available with 99bhp and on Trend trim only. Reports from test drives suggest it’s better suited to city centres than open road driving since it lacks the torque associated with a diesel engine. Probably suited to florists and the like, its not expected to be a heavy duty choice Very Car Like to drive – the cockpit suggests as much with a gearbox is slick and the driving position optimal. As with any of the transit range, its perfectly adaptable to customisable Van lightbars, emergency lighting and spots.
