Novadata’s Operator Compliance Record Sheet

29-11-2013

A new Operator Compliance Record Sheet book has been launched by leading transport training provider Novadata. The new book prompts the user to record that a roadworthiness check of the vehicle has been conducted, it also allows the duty times and allocation of time to be recorded. Each Operator Compliance Record Sheet will assist both drivers and operators to comply with and accurately demonstrate their compliance with Operators undertakings such as vehicle safety checks, tachograph use and Working Time regulations. The new Operator Compliance Record Sheets, which come in book form to assist in the collation of information which can then be held centrally, are designed to help operators to demonstrate their compliance in the event of an inspection by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA). Mark Lewin, Training Development Manager for Novadata said, "We’ve developed this record sheet in response to the feedback that we receive in our transport training courses. When talking with both drivers and managers it’s often apparent that there is a gap between their compliance and their record keeping. But getting this right is essential in order to protect your Operator Licence.” The overwhelming majority of drivers conscientiously comply with the requirements for checking their vehicle, Driver’s Hours legislation and the use of tachographs, the company believes. But providing evidence of compliance can be patchy at best. Not only does it vary from company to company, it can also differ from driver to driver, so in the event of a VOSA inspection it can be difficult to demonstrate that drivers and operators have complied with the law. "That’s when your Operator Licence could be at risk,” warns Lewin. "This book of Operator Compliance Record Sheets guides the driver or operator through all the aspects that they should be recording and gives them a reliable structure for reporting this on a regular basis. Regular use of these sheets (in conjunction with Novadata’s Daily Defect Report books) will give an operator a consistent level of meaningful, informative documentation both to assist company compliance and to present to a VOSA inspector or Traffic Commissioner, in order to show that they have done all that is required of them,” he adds. "For a matter of a few pence a day, you can buy a great deal of peace of mind that, as an Operator, you can demonstrate compliance whenever you need to.” The new Operator Compliance Record Sheets are part of Novadata’s philosophy of healthy compliance – compliance which can be evidenced through a robust paper audit trail. The company offers a compliance health check to assist transport companies who may need help with complying with their obligations under the law and obligations as an Operator. It also has a range of products to help those who already comply, but may be unable to accurately demonstrate their compliance with timed and dated, accurately recorded information in conjunction with effective and ongoing management.
