BG-GB MPG Challenge winner demonstrates MPG saving is no pipe dream

At a presentation at Baschurch Garage Shrewsbury, motorist Andy Slater was announced by BG Products as the winner of its 2017 MPG Challenge. The competition was set up to find the top fuel saving motorists using the company’s best-in-class fuel and oil treatments to maximise their engine’s efficiency and improve fuel economy. All the successful MPG improvement entries, say BG, prove their products’ effectiveness. And motorists who aren’t utilising this practical cleaning chemistry are missing out on the opportunity to clean up their polluting vehicles and save money on their fuel bills. Challenging motorists not to accept ever-decreasing MPG from their vehicle, BG Products, at the start of the summer, launched their MPG Challenge. It encouraged motorists to see just how much fuel they could save after a single use of BG’s fuel and oil treatments. Their ongoing testing, say BG, is continuing to reinforce previous data confirming that fuel savings of 4-7% can be achieved. As an extra incentive, the MPG Challenge’s reward for the top saver, the driver achieving the highest MPG improvement, was a brand new 4K Ultra HD Smart TV. MPG stabilised at 39 MPG, much higher than the pre-test figure Obviously delighted Seat Leon owner, Andy Slater from Shrewsbury, was the overall winner, recording his MPG improvement at over 20 MPG at one stage following treatment. Andy was presented with his Smart TV prize at the service centre where he had his Seat Ibiza treated with BG Products, Baschurch Garage. At 79,650 miles he recorded 23.9 MPG. 900 miles or so later, at 80,555 miles, it had risen to 43.9 MPG. It has since stabilised at a still impressive 39 MPG, much higher than the pre-test figure.
