So why do we need cabin filters?

01-02-2017

The main purpose of the cabin filter is to protect us against the polluted air (dust, soot, bacteria, pollen, etc) that we breathe when we are inside our trucks without even being aware of it. These micro particles can cause an increase in allergies and other respiratory diseases, which is why at Baldwin Filters we recommend regular replacement of the filter element, in order to ensure the wellbeing and health of the vehicle’s occupants. Did you know that an estimated 85% of cabin air filters in vehicles today have not had their recommended replacement. Replacement is recommended in order to maintain the high performance of the filter. When the filter starts to clog it loses its filtration efficiency. Consequences of not replacing the filter can include, but are not be limited to: • Decreased performance in heating and air conditioning, due to the restricted air flow. • Driver’s health can be affected, including headaches, nausea and allergies. Most cabin air filters are in a location that makes it moderately easy to access and replace, typically under the hood, behind or under the glove compartment. In order to assure the highest retention of harmful particles and optimise the operation of the air conditioning system, the cabin air filter should be changed every year or 12,000-15,000 miles. On average, Baldwin cabin filters retain over 90% of containments with a diameter greater than 3 microns (pollen) and from 0.01 to 2 microns (gas, bacteria, fungi), preventing these particles from reaching the cabin and guaranteeing cleaner air inside the car. Our cabin air filters are built to OE specifications to give you and your equipment the best protection available.
