Tips for best results with Slosh fuel tank sealer To read instructions for using Slosh ethanol-resistant fuel tank sealer click here>. For the best results, follow these tips: Do use nuts, washers, or sharp stones as abrasives with the Tank-Kleen solution to help remove rust and old petrol deposits. Do ensure the tank is completely dry before applying the sealer. Do remove or protect anything you don't want sealed, such as plugs, fuel gauge sender units, breather pipes, and filters. Do not apply the sealer to a wet or damp tank, as it will react with moisture and cause bubbling. Do not allow the sealer to pool in thick layers, which can trap solvents and lead to bubbling. Product Reviews " I treated my MGA fuel tank with Slosh tank sealer over 30 years ago and have never had a leak since." Mr B Rainet- May 2022 Product description Clear coloured moisture curing polyurethane for the sealing of fuel and oil tanks. Pack description 400ml or 800ml in clear. Also available as a small or large kit with Rustbuster Tank-Kleen. Application Cleaning the Tank Thoroughly clean the tank with Rustbuster SP10 Tank-Kleen, a caustic detergent, to remove grease, dirt, and fuel deposits. (If rust is present, use a suitable rust remover. Contact us for recommendations.) Insert temporary bungs into drain holes and sender holes. Then, add a few nuts, washers, or small sharp stones into the tank. While wearing protective gloves, pour 500ml of SP10 Tank-Kleen into the tank, followed by 500ml of fresh water. For heavily rusted or oily tanks, you may opt to use only SP10 Tank-Kleen. Seal the fuel filler opening. Shake the tank from side to side to scrub away loose surface contaminants. Empty the SP10 Tank-Kleen and nuts, washers, or stones. Repeat this process as needed until the tank is clean. You can reuse the SP10 Tank-Kleen by filtering out the dirt after each use. Rinse the tank thoroughly with fresh water until all deposits and traces of SP10 Tank-Kleen are gone. You can use a power wash (but avoid high pressure) or shake the tank for a thorough rinse. Leave the tank to dry completely. Ensure the tank is bone dry before using Slosh. If possible, use a compressor to blow air through the tank to speed up drying. Sealing the Tank Once the tank is clean and bone dry, follow this procedure for sealing: While wearing protective gloves, pour all of Slosh bottle 1 into the tank. Move the tank from side to side and upside down to coat the entire interior. After coating, let the tank sit for 20 minutes, then repeat the process two more times. Drain the excess sealer through the drain plug hole and back into the empty tin. Do not drain through the fuel filler opening, as extended edges inside the tank may trap the sealer. Draining excess sealer is essential to prevent pooling, which can cause bubbling during curing. Let the waste sealer fully cure in the bottle, then dispose of it as dry waste. Leave the cap off to allow moisture in. After three hours, when the first coat is still tacky, pour all of Slosh bottle 2 into the tank. Repeat the same process: move the tank from side to side and upside down to coat the interior, let it sit for 20 minutes, and repeat two more times. Drain the excess sealer through the drain plug hole as before. Proper draining is crucial to avoid pooling and bubbling during curing. The waste sealer will cure in the bottle and can be disposed of as dry waste. The tank can be used 24 hours after sealing but five days is recommended.
