GALVANISED METAL PRIMER T.WASH, MORDANT SOLUTION
Rustbuster T-Wash Mordant Solution for the Treatment of New Galvanised Surfaces Before Painting Newly galvanised surfaces are coated in a greasy film and surface contaminants that affect the adhesion of coatings. (Unlike weathered galvanised surfaces with approx. two years or more of weathering.) Failure to prepare new galvanised surfaces correctly is likely to lead to the failure of the chosen paint system. Rustbuster T-Wash is a pre-paint preparation mordant solution used to neutralize hydroxides and carbonates on the galvanised surface. This promotes significantly better adherence of paint to the surface of the galvanised surface. The recommended process to achieve the best results is as follows: Clean and degrease the surface using Rustbuster SP10 Tank-Kleen. Rinse with fresh water. When dry, apply Rustbuster T-Wash by brush. After some time, the solution will turn the surface black or dark grey, indicating that the proper reaction has taken place. Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry before painting, for example, Rustbuster EM121 epoxy mastic primer/finish or Custom 421 epoxy primer.
Any areas that do not turn black should be re-cleaned with Rustbuster SP10 and re-treated with T-Wash.
