The International Geneva Motor Show returned for 2017 in March inviting motoring enthusiasts and car buyers alike to join exhibitors in one of the largest and most prestigious motoring events of the year. Manufacturer's worldwide head to the Swiss city year after year to launch and showcase the latest upcoming models, giving audiences an exclusive peek into the future of the motoring industry. There was impressive displays from a huge variety of brands including Ferrari, Ford, BMW, Nissan, Lamborghini, Land Rover and Bentley just to name a few.
We've put together a list of our top 5 headlining cars from the 2017 Geneva Motor Show that we think earn a deserved spot in your future fleet.
1. Range Rover Velar
When you bridge the gap between the Land Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport, the result is rather incredible. Back in the spotlight at Geneva, meet the Range Rover Velar; the latest mid-size SUV to join the Land Rover pack. 2. Hyundai i30 Tourer
Unveiling the third generation of the i30 at the Paris Motor Show, Hyundai pulled it out of the bag with the new i30. Representing a huge improvement in the line of models set to be produced by the Korean brand, it impressed audiences with its remarkable facelift, well executed design and economy focused performance. Having left a lasting impression and soaring in terms of popularity, we're not surprised Hyundai has swiftly introduced us to the Tourer edition just months after it was first released. The Tourer model moves on even further, sporting high levels of sophistication through design, technology, safety and space. So in the estate edition, things get bigger and better. Expect a 602 L boot capacity and best in class safety and connectivity features; Autonomous Emergency Braking, Drive Attention Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control.
You'll be motivated to get up and go buy the Tourer since it has a host of features to make the interior an exceptionally inviting space. An 8" infotainment system complete with navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and wireless charging will keep you connected and entertained. 3. Nissan Qashqai
Nissan demonstrate that with the all-new Qashqai it's all about 'premiumness'. It's one of Britain's most cherished crossovers and it's experienced a serious upgrade. 5. Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
The Geneva Motor Show is testament that the SUV craze continues. Joining the trend, Mitsubishi unveiled their dynamic new vehicle, the Eclipse Cross. Yet rather than embracing the typical rugged composure of an SUV, it blends a sharp coupe profile with the character of a smart vehicle, so in essence it has it all. Hitting the UK in 2018, the Eclipse is the compact crossover, true to the signature Mitsubishi style it encompasses a fusion of sporty and expressive design with a sculpted and bold body. Packed with inventive gadgets as standard, the Eclipse will definitely appeal to the tech savvy, fitted with a Smartphone Link Display Audio system which is compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Premium editions include a touchpad controller operated through the centre console, so you can keep your eyes on the place they need to be the most, the road ahead.
Apart from styling, Mitsubishi has left much to our imagination only giving so many details about the new model away, leaving the rest to be discovered later in the year. But what we do know is that it's set to compete with the bestselling SUV's on the market, including the Ford Kuga and the Nissan Qashqai. It is expected to have dynamic performance and when it made its debut there were two choices of engines, the existing 2.2 L turbo diesel and a new 1.5 L direct injection turbo petrol, both of which have been engineered to suit the intended riding style of the Eclipse, with the motivation to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
