January 1st 2018 – Changes to FORS

12-01-2018

January 1st 2018 has seen two changes to the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme. FORS have announced it has changed the time between mandatory Bronze re-approval audits from three years to two for Gold Members. This step has been taken by the FORS Executive Group after it was deemed that three years between on-site audits was ‘simply too long’. Anne Johnson FORS Operations Director said “After reviewing the details of the accreditation process, the FORS Executive Group felt a three-year gap between FORS Bronze audits was simply too long. The change will ensure high levels of safety; efficiency and environmental protection are better maintained and evidenced. It has also been announced that smaller operators with up to three vehicles will no longer need to pay the current £235 evidence fee when applying for Gold accreditation. This move has been made with the aim of encouraging smaller operators to go for Gold. Anne said on this matter “This will be a welcome saving for many and we anticipate the move will provide an incentive for more smaller operators to progress through to FORS Gold status and to enjoy the many benefits that exemplary levels of best practice can bring”.
